Nintendo announces new Pokémon: Pokopia game, coming in 2026

Pokémon is getting its own cozy world builder. Pokémon Pokopia was announced during the September Direct with a short gameplay tease and a 2026 release window on Switch 2. It is a spin-off with a simple hook that fits the series and the console’s audience.

The Pokémon: Pokopia teaser and game mechanics

You begin as a Ditto that chooses to appear as a trainer. Exploring a bright open area, you meet Pokémon, learn their moves, then use those abilities to change the environment. One clear example in the clip shows Leafage learned from Bulbasaur, which lets you grow grass and greenery. The loop is learn, create, and invite more Pokémon to settle, with homes and small hubs forming as you go. The footage also briefly shows another trainer avatar wandering nearby, which hints at social elements the reveal does not fully explain.

Pokémon: Pokopia release date

Pokémon: Pokopia is slated for 2026 on Switch 2. A specific date, price, and any cross-gen details were not provided in the segment.
