The Legend of Zelda (theatrical film)
Nintendo and Sony are co-producing a live-action Zelda movie directed by Wes Ball. Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad produce. Target date is March 26, 2027. Trade and production listings point to a New Zealand shoot from November 2025 through early April 2026. No official plot yet. We are expecting Link and Zelda at the center with a classic Hyrule setup.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie
Nintendo and Illumination’s animated sequel is titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and opens April 3, 2026. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return to direct, with the main voice cast back. The announcement arrived during a Nintendo Direct in September 2025, with a short teaser.
Mortal Kombat 2
New Line’s sequel to the 2021 reboot now opens May 15, 2026. The story finally reaches the tournament, with Shao Kahn as the looming threat. Karl Urban joins as Johnny Cage. Simon McQuoid returns to direct.
Street Fighter
Legendary’s live-action reboot, now set for October 16, 2026 from Paramount, is filming. Kitao Sakurai directs. Casting includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, among others. The studio is pitching a faithful, fight-forward take.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2
Blumhouse and Universal return to the pizzeria. The sequel is only in theaters December 5, 2025. Expect more animatronic mayhem and a direct handoff from the first film’s ending.
BioShock
Netflix is developing a feature film directed by Francis Lawrence with Roy Lee producing. Recent interviews confirm the movie adapts the first game and is positioned as Lawrence’s next project after his current film. Script work continues. No date yet.
Death Stranding
A24 and Kojima Productions are making a live-action feature written and directed by Michael Sarnoski. The film is described as a new story in the world of the game, not a straight retelling. Active development with no cast or date announced.
Ghost of Tsushima
Sony Pictures and director Chad Stahelski continue to develop a feature adaptation of Sucker Punch’s samurai epic. Stahelski has said the script is complete and that he aims to shoot with a Japanese cast and language approach. No schedule yet.

Netflix is developing a live-action film with David Leitch directing and Jon Spaihts writing. The script is underway. An animated project is also in discussion at Netflix. No date.
God of War (Amazon series)
Amazon MGM Studios ordered a live-action series based on Santa Monica Studio’s Norse saga. Reports indicate filming is targeting March 2026 in Vancouver, with casting in progress now. Plot will follow Kratos and Atreus in the Norse era introduced in the 2018 game.
The Last of Us season 3
HBO renewed the series. Leadership says season 3 is planned for 2027, with Craig Mazin continuing as showrunner and Neil Druckmann stepping back to focus on Naughty Dog. Story will keep adapting Part II.
