While promoting Steve at the Toronto International Film Festival, Cillian Murphy sat with Josh Horowitz and addressed the fan chatter tying him to Voldemort in the Harry Potter reboot. He was clear. It is not a thing he is involved in.
What Murphy actually said
Asked point blank about the casting buzz, Murphy replied: “No. No. I mean, genuine… No, I don’t know anything about that.”
He then nodded to the benchmark already set for the Dark Lord, calling Ralph Fiennes “an absolute acting legend” and adding, “Good luck to whoever is going to fill those.”
Murphy also joked about the look the part requires when Horowitz mentioned the character’s noseless design, quipping that he is “very attached” to his own.
