Peacock gives early Season 2 pickup to The Paper, the new series set in The Office universe

Peacock has renewed The Paper for a second season ahead of its premiere. TheWrap reports the pickup landed one day before launch, with all 10 episodes of Season 1 set to arrive on the service on Thursday.

Co-showrunners Greg Daniels and Michael Koman lead the newspaper-set mockumentary, which also stars Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, Nate Jackson, Eric Rahill, and Oscar Nuñez. Production on new episodes is already under way following the early renewal.

The Paper follows the same documentary crew from The Office as they turn their cameras on a struggling Midwestern newsroom. NBC’s official guidance places the setting in Toledo and confirms the September 4 streaming date on Peacock.

For viewers, that means a full-season binge at launch, with Season 2 already on the books.
